Cactus is a city in Moore County, Texas, United States, along U.S. Route 287. The population was 3,179 at the 2010 census. Cactus is located 54 miles north of Amarillo, and 13 miles north of Dumas, Texas. The City of Cactus government is a commission-manager government with a mayor and five commissioners all elected from the city at-large, and a city manager appointed by the commission to serve as the administrative manager of the city.
